What is Our History Revealed: Africans in Early America?

Our History Revealed: Africans in Early America is a complete history program in American History from approximately 1490s-1870s for grades 1-6. It includes daily history lessons, historical narratives, geography, research, writing, activities, crafts, journaling, and discussions. (There is a student journal that can pair with this program. It is sold separately.)

Our History Revealed: Africans in Early America Features

Our History Revealed: Africans in Early America features 34 weeks of lessons. The last week is an optional week of study where students research their state of choice, ideally their home state.  The curriculum is presented in six main lessons, but they are not all required:

  1. A History Note
  2. History Narrative
  3. History Connection
  4. History Add-On
  5. Historical Literature
  6. State Study

Other components include poetry, songs/spirituals, African-American quotes, picture study, and suggested picture books. The “History Connection” includes a plethora of history activities such as written narrations, timeline, journal pages, mapping, copywork, recipes, and illustrations. To complete this history program, 11 required books are necessary. There are additional books that are optional, but these titles help to provide a richer study of history.

Our History Revealed: Africans in Early America Layout

Our History Revealed: Africans in Early America is designed for a four-day week. Each daily lesson is displayed in a one-page format with the six features mentioned above. Parents/Teachers should begin daily with reading “A History Note” to familiarize themselves with the day’s history narrative and learn about any additional preparations. PREVIEW GUIDE
